* To change
The last few months has been full of change for me. Personally, I went from being single to a wife, which is an amazing experience of it's own. Professionally, POSH has grown to exceed my expectations. I have clients I adore, a team of strong, intelligent supportive women who work along side me in this journey, and industry peers who fuel my creativity and drive.
I'm blessed.
Late last year I accepted a Board position for Wish Upon a Wedding Philadelphia Chapter, the world's first wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation . Most recently, I became the Co-Director for the Association of Bridal Consultants South Jersey Local Networking Group.
It wasn't until earlier this week that I sat down and really reflected on how far this dream of mine has grown. The Association of Bridal Consultants is where I started my career. When I joined many years ago, I was a novice, new to the world of weddings and eager to learn. I met an experienced planner in Northern New Jersey who allowed me to shadow her to gain real world experience...and the rest, well, as they say is history.
Beyond blessed.
Over the next month we will be undergoing monumental changes over at POSH that I am so excited to share!
Until then, I'll leave you with this. Dream bigger than you ever could. When you get to that point, exceed it.

The point of it all
It's a common occurence at weddings for guests to pull me aside and inquire about how it REALLY feels to be a wedding planner. The first question, is it fun? The second question, is it like the movies?
I've learned to answer this question in the most honest way I know how and over the years, it really hasn't changed.
Is it fun? Not really. But it's one of the most rewarding positions I've ever had the opportunity to hold. I witness the joining of two people, two families, two hearts, under God, under love, united. I'm entrusted with the little details, the family drama, the secrets that would otherwise remain personal. I've watched families blossom and have had the opportunity to maintain friends with many of my couples.
Like the movies? Not hardly. Not ever.
On days like today, when I'm organizing after an amazing wedding and I get the following email from this Saturday's bride which reads:
Hi Isis!
JP and I are here in beautiful Riviera Maya and I just couldn't wait until we got home to say THANK YOU for everything you did for us. Saturday was amazing!! We had the BEST time! Please know that we know how hard you worked and we are very grateful to you for helping us make 11/13 a day we will never forget. We are so, very appreciative!!!!!
As you know...it was a bittersweet day, particularly for me, and it brings me so much happiness to have had the opportunity to see my parents happy. My dad cannot wait to write a Thank You note to you and Maleakia! He LOVED you all!
Not only are you fabulous at your job, but you are an amazing woman. Thank you again and we would love to catch up with you when we get back!
With love,
Katie & JP
It's beyond a movie.
What we do affects lives, it affects people and it's days like today, that I am reminded why I love what I do.

Be back soon
We just wanted to take a moment to say although we haven't been very active on the blog of late, we will definitely be back soon. We suffered a very personal loss over the past week and have spent time in the comfort of loved ones.
We are definitely looking forward to getting back to all things weddings with fabulous updates, great finds and more from "Nila says" this week so stay tuned, it will definitely be worth the wait.

Personal "Touches"
Milestone birthdays are hard. When you work in the industry, PLANNING a milestone birthday is a task like none other.
It's the curse of the double edge sword. You know the most fabulous vendors from working together over the years, you have a variety of venues in your arsenol, resources are endless.. and yet, you have to narrow down to a feasible, manageable and affordable party that will knock everyone's socks off and leave them saying WOOOOOWWW!
Brides sound familiar?
After narrowing down the Venue, The Residence Inn Center City- Penthouse Suite, I pulled together some of my best vendors and began designing the space. It's funny. Many people think that when you are an Event Planner, it's easier for personal events, but let me be the first to say, it's far from it.
For this event, I followed the same protocol as we do with our "Touches" level of service. Floor plan, design schematics, rentals and execution.
The result...Well you tell me. What do you think internet?
Introducing, La Dolce Vita or "The Sweet Life":
This is the penthouse on a daily basis...

Florals provided by Denise of Leigh Florist. Denise is so dedicated to her craft. I gave her a theme and let her run with it. This is what she produced. It's why you really trust the experts to do their job:

Dessert Reception:

The Philadelphia Skyline. The reason this venue was the perfect choice.

Special Thanks again to all of my Vendors who consistently assist in producing one fabulous event after another.

Trick or Treat!
This year Chris was upgraded from the "Mighty Lion" to Management!
Hope you had a fun and safe Halloween!

Sunday
Firsts

I always knew my son would grow up in the world of weddings. When your parent's relationship began at a wedding and your mom has a passion for planning, it's inevitable that you become a part of the industry at a very young age.
Today Christian played his first role in a wedding, as a guest. If I must say so myself, he did a fabulous job!
Happy Birthday Baby
Today we celebrated one year since the birth of our little Prince. Yesterday's football themed festivities at Little Sport were amazing (although Christian seemed to be the only child clueless to what was going on)thanks to the great staff at the facility and the Vendors which contributed to an all around awesome event.

They say time flies. Before Christian was born, I had no sense of time. Today as I watched him hold his own bottle, wave and say "bye bye", I realized I'll blink my eyes and my baby will be a big boy. Until then, I'm holding on ever so tightly.
One down and many, many more to go.

Wednesday
GONE...
But not forgotten!
I know, I know, I've been a TERRIBLE blogger lately, with a whole 2 weeks since my last confession. Believe me, I've definitely missed being here.
With wedding season in full swing and a 10 month old who's finally recovered from being sick almost 6 weeks now, I've definitely been busy.
But I'm back now, with lots of new couples, new insight and lots to tell so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
