The Fabuluxe life!

There are some people who "get it"; and then there are those that really GET IT.

Enter Terrica Skaggs of Fabuluxe Events, Inc.

Terrica is the mastermind behind Virtual Soiree a virtual meeting of the minds of Brides and some of the industries most talented wedding planners in the blogosphere. Virtual Soiree debuted last Thursday and was quite the success. Brides Aeleise, Danielle and MeQuel were given exclusive access to an open forum for questions and advice on their big day as we shared virtual cocktails and experienced cyber wedding chat at it's finest.

The experience itself was enlightening.

So imagine my surprise when after a long hard week, I open the mail and this is what I see:

This swag bag was Tericca's way of saying thank you for participating in the virtual soiree. The pictures don't really do the mini martini set, complete with a fabulous pink mini cocktail shaker, mini martini glass and cosmopolitan mix, justice. The bag also included Ferrero Rocher chocolates which did not last to make their way into the shot. Now that's how you say thank you!

We will have another virtual soiree this evening at 8pm EST.If you would like an exclusive invite, email your request to blog {at} fabuluxeinc {dot} com. Invites are open to a select number of brides with nuptials during 2009 and you must have a wedding website or blog to participate. Remember to include your wedding date and wedding website or blog address, and of course be sure to let them know that I sent you!

This is your chance to get up close and personal with some of the most talented professionals I personally know, and get expert advice regarding planning a successful and fabulous wedding. I look forward to "seeing" you there.

Cheers and thank you Terrica. The pleasure is certainly all mine.

Why we do what we do

Today I received the BEST thank you email. Actually, I received two...

My great couple from this Saturday, Jessica & Jeff both sent me thank you "notes" earlier today. I must admit, although I'm a real sap, the double take today caught me off guard. Working so closely together in a two month period, Jessica and I have definitely developed a friendship but the real kicker was the email I received from the Groom:

Hi Isis! I am great. It's funny, because everyone has asked me if I was nervous, and I say no. Alot of that is because I was so ready to marry Jessica, but it was also because I knew that everything was in good hands. You really did do an amazing job getting things set up for us, so that all we had to do was get dressed and enjoy being around our families and loved ones. You did such a wonderful job, and I will no doubt refer anyone I know in need of help to you and your staff. You really did make this such a memorable experience, and every single person who attended has gushed over how perfect it all was.

Once again, thank you!

Yup, makes it all worthwhile!

Friday

These TWO words

There are two words in the dictionary that when combined can change a person's entire state of mind and they are "THANK YOU!".

In the last two days I've received thank you's from two fellow colleagues (Leslie of Leslie Manning Events and Shayna of Weddings by Shayna) that have truly touched my heart. Both of these women inspire me on a daily basis and today they've inspired my blog.

While planning your Wedding, you will undoubtedly deal with so many individuals who will work on your behalf to see that the day of your dreams is flawlessly executed. When the dust settles, why not take the time to send a note simply stating thank you for all of their hard work? In these days of email, IM, text messages-not only is it rare to see complete words to express emotion, is almost unheard of to receive "snail mail". If you're anything like me however, there is something very genuine about reading words on paper or reciting out loud a verse that someone handpicked for you.

So thank you ladies. Thank you for always inspiring me, reminding me that those two words can make a world of difference and just for being you.

Thank You

(This picture is of one of my favorite couples -Kiersten & Jason; aren't they both just gorgeous!)

After recently having 2 baby showers of significant sizes, believe me, I understand the (for lack of a better word) Inconvenience of hand writing Thank You cards, but I must tell you, etiquette wise it is an absolute necessity!

Couples often ask me if they "HAVE TO" do it, and while I don't feel anything is mandated, I absolutely feel that if someone takes the time to participate in your special day, the least you can do is thank them for thinking enough of you to share in your joy. You invite these guests because you feel that your day would be a little more complete with their presence, so take the time to WRITE a little note to acknowledge that you and your new spouse appreciate their well wishes (and gifts).

A few things to note when writing your notes...

Be as sincere as possible; If you are going to handwrite your thank you's though a generic message is acceptable, try to put something "special" in the note. While this does not necessarily mean reference the specific gift, you can do little things such as address the guest in their nickname, etc.

If you do not want to handwrite your thank you notes, select a generic message that covers all scenarios. Aside from thanking for the "gift", also thank for well wishes, etc.

Order your thank you notes at the same time as your invitations. In terms of cohesiveness, it's the easiest way to assure that your all of your stationary are the same. There would be nothing worse than waiting 5 months to order a line that possibly has gone out of circulation.

Lastly, be sure to budget $$$ for stamps! Couples often forget to allocate money for the stamps for thank you cards and depending on your guest list size, this may be a significant expense.
