A Planner Plans: The Date

The date of an event is so critical in determining the style, location, and overall type of event you will be having. For us,the decision was one of the easiest we've had thus far.

The conversation went a little like this...

Me: "Honey, have you thought about when you want to get married?"
Mr. Charming "We can do it whenever you like..."
Me: "Well, if we do destination..."
Mr. Charming: (with a look of total confusion) "We can't do destination, I want to make sure that the people closest to me attend. I'm thinking Philadelphia".
Me: (slightly saddened): Well, if we do it locally, it has to be in the winter. I currently have weddings until October 23rd and need atleast 1-2 months to focus on ours. That puts us in December."
Mr Charming: "A December wedding? With the holidays. I don't know..."
Me: "Not just a December wedding, a New Year's Eve wedding".
Mr. Charming: (Not totally convinced) "New Year's Eve?"
Me: "Yes sweetie, it's perfect. Exactly one year from the date you proposed, we will get to celebrate the biggest day of the year surrounded by all those we love. EEEEEK!"
Mr. Charming (cracking a smile): "Sounds good to me!"

And there you have it ladies and gentleman. The 60 second exchange which took place to decide on our date. We're very fortunate to have a solid booking and amazing wedding season spanning from January-November at POSH this year and I know that I had to give my current Clients 100% of me to avoid feeling guilt during my own personal planning process.

Mr. Charming and I love the holidays. Between November-December 31st, we celebrate 8 family birthdays (including his and mine), Thanksgiving and Christmas. We both have strong ties to our families and feel fortunate to have fostered friendships in excess of 20 years that are now extended family. We recognize that a holiday wedding isn't ideal for all. To add to the mix, NYE falls on a Friday this year and we're having an evening ceremony and adult only reception.

While it may not be convenient for all of our guests, we hope that those that are able to attend experience a magical night, witnessing the love we share for each other and for them. It's like I always tell my couples, the goal of a great wedding is for your guests to walk away feeling like they've learned a little more about your relationship. The foundation of our relationship is faith, family and friends. Celebrating on one of the biggest holidays of the year, is an added bonus.

Besides, when you are guaranteed a view like this, how could you resist?

Jennifer and Scott tied the knot!

On a very windy day in late July, Jennifer married Scott in an outdoor ceremony by the water at the picturesque Greate Bay Country Club. Under a Chuppah constructed of natural materials and wrapped in chiffon, Jennifer and Scott exchanged vows complete with handfasting, wine, a naming day ceremony and the breaking of the glass to honor Scott's Polish and Jen's Jewish Tradition. Guests were welcomed into the reception to the sounds of Schaffer Sound Productions, and decor which consisted of elements from the couple's world travels and love of scuba.

I was honored to have the opportunity to work with the remarkable Paula Cella again. Pictures of the wedding are posted on her blog. I was also in great company with Joe Mariorano of Schaffer Sound Productions , Floral Decor by Fischer Flowers, Videography by Marc Smiler Video Artist, the most AMAZING cake by BakeWorks and of course the lovely ladies at Greate Bay Country Club.

This morning I received a notification of a review posted on wedding wire from the couple which read:

Isis is amazing. She and her coordinators took the wedding vision and dream I had put together and brought it all together into one coordinated, well executed, beautiful wedding. I had no worried with her, as she was the only person I had spoken to (of many day-of coordinators) who was as detail-oriented and organized as I am. All over every aspect of the wedding, she kept things running smoothly and kept it from me when it wasn't. She did exactly what I would have hoped she would have done -- make my day perfect so that I could just sit back and enjoy it.

She also took approximately 1,000 calls from me, as I was a long-distance bride who was trying to coordinate a complicated affair from 2,000 miles away. She was the best.

Jen & Scott, it was my pleasure in assisting to create the day of your dreams.

Johann married Mark Anthony

This past Thursday in an outdoor ceremony in Hazlet, NJ with 180 of their closest friends, Johann married the love of her life Mark Anthony.

What I loved most about this wedding in particular, is that the couple kept to their minimalistic theme with candlelight centerpieces, and allowed the Tiffany blue color scheme and nature to work their magic...and magic indeed it was. Although the forecast called for showers, the couple was blessed with clear skies for their evening ceremony. Gea's Florist decorated the gazebo with lightweight fabric swags and rose pedals greeted the Bride down her cobblestone aisle. The couple participated in a traditional ceremony and added a unity candle ceremony as well as "jumping the broom".

Guests were welcomed into cocktail hour by the sound of a Steel-pan drummer, which was a perfect infuse of the couple's Jamaica and Trinidadian roots. The dance floor was kept packed throughout the night by the sounds of DJ Kerry from Supernova DJ.

The couple choose to take pictures before the ceremony which allowed us to spend some time at Sandy Hook Beach prior to the ceremony. (Side note: The party ride shuttle bus ROCKED!) Sand, onlookers and sandals...need I say more?

I'll miss you Johann & Mark Anthony. Enjoy Barcelona and your cruise of the Mediterranean!

A Day at the Beach

Irrespective of the fact that it is about 30 degrees outside, 4 inches of snow fall and the streets are currently "icing" over,for some reason, I could not stop thinking about the Beach today. Maybe i'm biased and totally in-love with the fact that I am fortunate enough to have Clients who choose to get married on the beach/near the water pretty frequently...but there's something about love, sand and sunsets that makes the experience soooo romantic.

One thing i've noticed about beach weddings is that people really do tend to struggle with the theme of the day; either overemphazing the fact that they are at the water, or doing everything in there power to not make that the center of attention. My advice is if you do chose to recite your nuptials near the sea, be cognizant of your surroundings and embrace nature-beautiful rich colors, fabrics, and simplicity will go a VERY long way.

A day at the Beach!

Dawn and Dave were by far one of my most FAVORITE couples of the season..Ok, truth be told, they're all my favorite (smile), but Dawn and Dave were married on the beach in beautiful Brigantine, NJ, so call me partial. What I loved most about Dawn and Dave's wedding however, was not the gorgeous beach skyline or the amazing flowers, my favorite part of the entire wedding was that it was sooo filled with love, you just couldn't help but smile.

The ceremony was a traditional Jewish ceremony under a chuppah carried by all of Dawn and David's closest relatives. The groom was escorted down the rose filled aisle by his parents to the sounds of violins, courtesy of Lucchi Strings. The Bride soon followed, escorted by her parents to the gasps of 40 of their closest family and friends as she entered from what seemed like an endless aisle of sand. The reception followed at a private estate with food catered by Betty The Caterer, dancing and laughter. It was gorgeous. It was intimate. It was so them.

I always encourage my couples to be true to themselves and have a wedding that is reflective of their style, their life and their love. Dawn and Dave were the perfect example.

Dawn & Dave

I was honored to assist at the Wedding of Dawn and Dave this past weekend. By far one of my favorite weddings of the year(as was the Wedding of Eve & Joe 2 weeks before), this couple truly focused on the meaning of love and family.


The Wedding was held at a private home on the beach in Brigantine. Guests enjoyed a light reception filled with the sounds of violins at the home prior to their short stroll on to the beach for a breath-taking ceremony performed by Canter Ellie Shaffer. An amazing Kosher dinner followed the ceremony as guests mingled and enjoyed the wonderful ocean breeze on a cool "90 degree" night. The entire night was captured on film by noted photographer Paula Cella and there was truly never a dull moment.

It was the perfect night for a Wedding and Dawn and Dave were the perfect couple to share the night with.

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Friedman!
