Sage Speaks: Can I Ask You a Favor?

Just like so many other things, there are about a million choices when choosing your wedding favors. Sometimes it may even seem like there are too many choices! But if you focus in on one particular aspect of your wedding (or other event), it should be easier to choose the favors, as well as other things.

For example, try focusing in on colors or the season-fall is just around the corner! Take inspiration from famous fall colors-those deep reds and beautiful oranges can spice up any event. How about this-instead of a regular margarita, try using a pumpkin liquor and trimming the edge of the glass with brown sugar instead of salt! Here are some fantastic fall favors that just might find themselves at your next event!
Caramel corn-a tasty treat that your guests can enjoy!
Leaf bottle opener-a practical favor, and something your friends can actually use!
Personalized fall leaf petals-write something so your favorite people can remember your event!

Happy planning!

Nila Says...Favors are a favorite.

The invitations have been sent out, the dress has arrived and all the orders have been placed. Are you forgetting anything? As you try to go down the list, detail per detail, you remember that one main part of the wedding has been forgotten. The favors!! You might be asking yourself; do we really need them, how can something so small be such a significant detail to this wedding? Well believe it or not, this small little piece of the puzzle, is what places the finishing touches to such an amazing night. Favors are a simple and significant treat you hand out at the end of the night to all your guests. It is your small token of appreciation.
A wedding itself is a spectacular event that many unite to celebrate. For the most part, the food, dancing and joy of this special night is more than enough. Favors for that matter do not have to overpower the event. Something simple is all you need.

When ordering party favors make sure to keep a few things in mind.
- Order amount per household. You never want to order more than the guest list.
- Party favors are for guests to have a memory of your special night. Remember to place the date of your wedding along with your name and you’re significant others name on the favor.
Remember to keep it simple:
Some ideas:
- CD with the bride and grooms favorite song
- Chocolates with packaging that contains bride and grooms name and date of wedding
- Candles
- Customized cookies with date and names
- If weddings are themed, make arrangements so that your favors go along with the theme.
o Beach Theme:
- Small seashells with name and date imprinted in them
- Cookies shaped into seashells or other beach related objects
- Small treasure boxes filled with chocolate coins

There are thousands of small creations one can put together. These are just a few ideas you might want to consider. Remember that creativity and simplicity are key factors to wedding favors!

babycakes love!

Someone pinch me. I must be dreaming!

Refined sugar free, gluten free, soy free, vegan...desserts. Not just any desserts, I'm talking cupcakes, cookies, brownies and pies that look as delectable as they taste!

Babycakes NYC, the brainchild of Erin Mckenna, is a full service bakery specializing in gluten, wheat, dairy, egg and soy free products. Featured in the media in magazines such as "O, Elegant Bride,InStyle, Modern Bride and House & Garden" these sweet treats have pleasured the taste buds of vegans and non-vegans alike.

Best of all, we're fortunate enough to have the bakery right here in our backyard in my hometown of New York City. If you're not local however, no worries, they do deliver.

Menu planning is often a challenge when you have a couple where one of the partners follows a strict eating regime. As a relative of a strict vegan, and a Coordinator who has had her fair share of the "food talk" with our couples, I certainly understand. What a wonderful way to infuse a vegan aspect into your special event and show your better half that you are making an effort to recognize how important their beliefs are to you. Compromising over brownies, gotta love it!

Wednesday

Dale and Thomas

One of my FAVOR-ite favors at weddings receptions are, well... anything edible! While it's common for Martha Stewart inspired Candy buffets, I've also been fortunate enough to have a variety of other buffets make a guest appearance at many of our events. From candy to candy apples to cookies and brownies, anything that can fit into a "cute" glass container, we've done.

What am I loving lately, Dale & Thomas popcorn. Known for being one of Oprah Winfrey's Favorite things, Dale & Thomas is an industry leader in taking popcorn to the absolute next level! With a variety including caramel, country cheddar, backyard bbq, peanut butter white chocolate, and cookies n' cream what's there not to love? My personal favorite, chocolate chunkin' caramel, mmmmm...

So, if you're looking to take your event to the next level, why not put a spin on a classic favorite and wow your guests with a "sweet" treat for the end of the night! Your guests and your taste buds will thank you.

She's at it again...

My Florida Connection, Kelly McWilliams, of Weddings by Socialites is having another great contest. This time she is giving away $100 gift certificate for Telliegrams.com. Now, I personally LOVE this company. They make the most adorable and affordable favor boxes that I've seen in a very long time and the owner Kelly Sabine is just a gem to work with.

Click on this link and follow the directions on Kelly's site to enter. And yes, the Isis in the comments section-that's me! (I told you I love this stuff!)

Mmmmm-imosa

I was recently on the hunt for the easiest way to make mimosas "to go" for a crowd of 200+ Wedding guests (don't ask) when I stumbled on Oral fixation. Thanks Leslie! This company custom makes mints in the best of flavors including green tea mint, fruity tropical, jasmine and you guessed it-Mimosa! This flavor in particular just happens to have the cutest tin container with a Wedding theme. I contacted Oral Fixation and thoroughly enjoyed the level of customer service I experienced and am waiting on my delivery of a sample now. Of course I'll keep you posted on how yummy they taste!!!
